Underground Utilities Model
Construction Completion Anticipated June 2024

Project Summary

CWC delivered the design component (in collaboration with Stantec) of the Design and Construct GC21 contract with Eire Constructions for Hunter Water.

The project involved site investigations, utilities management, civil and structural design, and project management for the renewal of an aging 3-metre-deep box culvert (220m x 3m x 1.5m) located underneath the Macquarie Street and Hanbury Street intersection in Mayfield.

Project challenges included complex utilities relocations, construction staging and traffic staging within the TfNSW corridor (Hanbury Street). Significant collaboration with many stakeholders was required to work through project constraints.

Delivered by Collins Williams

  • Project and design management

  • Civil design including For-Construction drawings

  • Hydraulic and Hydrology design

  • Stormwater design

  • Utilities relocation 3D coordination and strategy (watermain, sewer, gas, electrical, comms)

  • DN500 watermain relocation

CWC’s performance on this project exceeded expectations. It is uncommon to adopt a subcontractor to perform the role of Design Manager of Stantec resources but CWC’s expertise resulted in a complex project being delivered with high praise from Hunter Water and within program. CWC managed the project with best intentions for Stantec.
